Watering or moisture leaching from plant containers causes water to collect in plant trays.  This leads to condensation forming on the outer surface of the tray.
With ordinary plant trays, the moisture that collects underneath the tray cannot evaporate resulting in mold, mildew, rot, and discoloration of the floor or surface.
